My child receives the Step-Up for Students Scholarship or another Florida School Choice Scholarship. Can we still enroll with HPA?
Frequently Asked Questions
While we are approved for families to receive the FES-UA (Unique Abilities) and PEP* (Personalized Education Plan) school choice scholarships, we do not accept these funds for tuition payments, nor can they be reimbursed to you. Unfortunately, we are not approved to accept students who receive the FES-EO (Private School Scholarship), as this scholarship is only available to schools that provide in-person education at a physical location. Students must be enrolled in an in-person private school to receive the FES-EO Scholarship. As we are classified as a virtual private school, we are ineligible to receive these scholarship funds and do not have an account on their portal.
Any student receiving the FES-UA (or any other FL school choice scholarship) who is also taking courses through FLVS Flex or OAO through Hillcrest Private Academy, MUST pay for the courses using the scholarship funds.
Students with the PEP scholarship may use us for our homeschooling resources only, including grade reports, transcripts, diplomas, MS365 Education, Canva, ABCMouse, Starfall, and more. PEP acts as the state’s “umbrella” school, overseeing compulsory education compliance and attendance records for scholarship recipients. If you enroll in a virtual school like FLVS Flex or OAO, you must use your scholarship funds to cover the course costs. When registering for these programs, ensure you list PEP as your school. Should you choose to remain enrolled in HPA while utilizing the PEP scholarship, please provide the students’ names after enrolling with us. We will then update your account to reflect their PEP status and withdraw them from HPA attendance compliance. The students will remain on your account, and you will be responsible for their HPA tuition. Please note that scholarship funds cannot be used for our tuition or supportive services.
HPA does not receive tax credits or funding from tax dollars, nor do we participate in government-funded programs. We believe the costs of such programsโparticularly the loss of parents’ freedom to direct their children’s educationโoutweigh the benefits. To support our families, we maintain low tuition fees, offer convenient payment plans, and provide numerous included resources.
