Help Your Students Become Financially Literate
Intuit for Education offers a free and adaptable financial literacy program that utilizes real-world tools to teach students about finances and build their financial confidence. Additionally, these courses can earn students high school financial literacy credits, along with other valuable elective credits that can be added to their transcripts. To sign up, both teachers and students will require MS365 school email addresses. With that, select ‘ACCESS THIS RESOURCE‘ to navigate to the Intuit for Education website.
Teacher Accounts
To create an Educator account, start by clicking ‘Sign Up‘ and selecting ‘Teacher.’ Enter your MS365 email address, create a new Intuit password, and click ‘Create an Intuit Account.’ Next, complete your teacher profile by entering your legal first name, legal last name, what your students call you, and the number of students you expect to use the content (0-30), then click ‘Next.‘ To find our school, enter ‘32524‘ as the School zip code. “Hillcrest Private Academy” should appear in the School Name box; select it and then click ‘Next.’ Finally, click ‘Done‘ to complete your educator account registration. *NOTE– on your Intuit dashboard they will ask you to connect to your LMS. Click “I do not have and LMS.” To add your students, start by generating a class code. On the left sidebar, click “+New Class” and enter your class name and semester start date, then click “Next.” An “Invite Students” pop-up will appear with a class code link. Click “Copy” and send the link to your students. They can either copy/paste the link into their browser or enter the 6-digit code into their Intuit Student Account as detailed below. To assign courses, start by clicking “Explore” at the top of the left sidebar. This will give you access to the free curriculum available. You have the option to assign self-paced online courses for your students or use the provided curriculum instructions and printables for coursework assignments. Additionally, make sure to utilize the Educator Community and Professional Development tabs for further resources, webinars, and support offered by Intuit for Education.
Student Accounts
To create a student account for Intuit for Education, start by clicking “Sign Up.” Enter the 6-digit class code you generated into the “Join Code” box and click “Continue.” Alternatively, paste the join code link into a web browser, which will take you directly to the class page. Next, enter the student MS365 account email address, create a password, and click “Create an Intuit Account.” A “Welcome to Intuit for Education” pop-up with the class name will appear; click “Next.” Then, enter the student’s first and last name and click “Next.” Finally, you will be directed to the Intuit Class Dashboard, where any assignments will be visible.
Use real-world tools to teach personal and entrepreneurial finance
Intuit for Education utilizes real-world tools like TurboTax, Credit Karma, QuickBooks, and Mailchimp to allow students to apply their knowledge to real-life scenarios — like building a budget, filing taxes, paying for college, or managing a side hustle.
Intuit Personal Finance curriculum
The Personal Finance curriculum provides students the information they need to become financially literate as they move into adulthood. The curriculum includes 150+ hours across 13 units with useful real-world topics, like building credit, managing bank accounts, planning for investing, understanding taxes, and repaying loans. Students can apply these concepts and develop lifelong skills and capabilities using Intuit product simulations in real-world scenarios.
Intuit Entrepreneurial Finance curriculum
It’s common for some small businesses to fail due to a lack of understanding about managing their finances. Help students develop the foundational financial knowledge they need to succeed. The Intuit Entrepreneurial Finance curriculum helps students understand and apply the financial responsibilities of starting and managing a business or side hustle. The curriculum includes concepts like monitoring and forecasting business finances, managing risk, obtaining financing, and establishing a proper exit strategy. It can act as a standalone curriculum or be integrated into other external entrepreneurship programs.
